Will drivers who use the COP29 lanes in Baku be fined?

Separate lanes have been designated on many streets and avenues in Baku in connection with COP29.

“In Baku, the lanes with the COP29 inscription are still being drawn. Will we be fined if we enter these lanes?” wrote one user on the social network.

We have sent a request to the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) for clarification on the issue.

“All the designated lanes are special lanes for general-purpose vehicles and the relevant legislation applies to all of them,” explained T. Orucov.

Please note that According to the Traffic Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan, a fine of 100 manats is imposed for the movement of other vehicles on the lane marked with signs 5.9, 5.10.1- 5.10.3 (bus lane), intended for general-purpose vehicles. and 2 penalty points are provided.

At the same time, the right to drive a vehicle is restricted for six months if drivers accumulate 20 or more points in one year.

It is worth noting that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Baku in November.
