The reforms carried out by the Surface Transport Agency of Azerbaijan in relation to public transport in the capital create an opportunity for citizens to travel more comfortably in the capital. However, there are still complaints about the lack of a systematic route in the regions and cities outside the capital.
Modern.az has contacted the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) regarding the issue.
The agency said that in order to bring the services provided to public transport passengers in the regions to high standards in terms of safety and quality, the route lines are being analyzed and the renewal of the bus fleet focuses on:
“Transport companies are tasked with replacing old and inoperative buses with new ones that do not meet the needs of passenger transportation. Currently, the transport network of all regions and cities of the country is being thoroughly analyzed and, based on the results, route lines are put to tender. The tender will be held in stages. One of the conditions of the tender is that the buses must be newer.”
