Iran has no intention of sending its troops or volunteer forces to support Hezbollah in Lebanon.
This was reported by the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that Lebanon has sufficient forces and resources to defend itself and does not need foreign military assistance.
Officials in Tehran noted that Lebanon has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to deal with challenges and that interference from Iran is not currently being considered.
Recall that Iran attributed responsibility for the liquidation of Nasrallah not to Israel, but to the United States.
According to Nikolai Bobkin, senior fellow at the Institute for the United States and Canada, Iran’s decision is not related to avoiding conflict with Israel, but is determined by internal political factors. Iran still does not recognize Israel and has not changed its position, but internal divisions are growing within the country’s government circles. An example of this is the recent incident at the UN General Assembly, when former Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif became the center of attention, effectively pushing President Pezeshkian into the background. This indicates a struggle for influence between various factions in the country’s leadership.
Furthermore, Iran has yet to respond to the death of one of the Hamas leaders, which also highlights the complexity of the internal political situation.
Bobkin notes that Israel is preparing for a ground operation in Lebanon to weaken Hezbollah, especially after losing its leadership to airstrikes. However, how far Israeli troops can advance is still in doubt. According to the expert, the Israeli army can go 25 to 30 kilometers deep into Lebanon to clear the border areas and allow residents of northern Israel to return to their homes. However, official sources have not yet confirmed plans for a deeper invasion, for example into the Litani River.
