Will we see the decline in inflation in our pockets? Economist Alejandro Inurrieta answers

Inflation closes August with a new fall to 2.2% and it is the lowest of the whole year, as noted this Thursday by National Institute of Statistics (INE). Thus, the preliminary data for the last month of summer are six tenths lower than those proposed in July, when the price increase moderated to 2.8%.

Alejandro Inurrieta analyzed these data in Al Rojo Vivo, specifying whether they will end up being noticeable in the pockets of the Spanish. “In terms of food and fuel, it will be felt,” he indicated, warning that despite everything, we still have “a few months where there will be some rebounds”.

The economist pointed out that one of the aspects where this will not be noticed will be in the service sector, recalling that a large part of our salary is allocated to it. In addition, the start of the school year will make September and October a few months “more complicated.”

“The feeling that inflation was out of control continues to be felt“, he admitted, stressing that the fact that there is no significant increase in wages means that our purchasing power “is not increasing to the level it should.” In addition, he recalled that there are also other factors such as housing, which in most cases takes “half of the salary.”
