The Nobel Prize in Economics is the most prestigious award in this field of science. The 2024 winners have already been announced. They are Daron Acemoglu, Simon Johnson and James A. Robinson.
The Americans Daron Acemoglu and Simon Johnson, as well as the British James Robinson, received the Nobel Prize in Economics. “for his studies on how institutions are created and how they influence prosperity”.
To date, this financial award has been awarded 55 times, with a total of 93 people receiving it.
Acemoglu and Johnson are at MIT and Robinson is at the University of Chicago. The scientists were awarded, in particular, for “help understand the differences in prosperity between countries”. The Nobel Committee explained that the model built by the laureates explains how political and economic institutions are created and changed.
