Third success of Sacyr in Chile in three months. Sacyr was selected to win the second concession of the Santiago-Valparaíso-Viña del Mar road interconnection of Route 68which connects the metropolitan regions and Valparaíso, located in central Chile. Sacyr won the call for tenders against Mundys, co-owner of Abertis with ACS.
Route 68 is one of the the biggest calls for tenders carried out by the Ministry of Public Works of Chile, with an investment of 1.6 billion dollars (1.5 billion euros), and will serve to solve important challenges in infrastructure and connectivity.
The opening of the economic offer, carried out this Tuesday, gave the construction company she chairs Manuel Manrique as winner of this project, which aims to improve the level of this 141 kilometer route, and which will generate 3.3 billion euros in revenue over the maximum concession period of 30 years.
The project includes the improvement, construction, maintenance and operation of the existing route and new work to increase the capacity of Route 68. In addition, electronic “free flow” toll gantries will be integrated throughout the section and new infrastructure will be built, such as links, footbridges, bridges and bus stops, which will contribute to road and pedestrian safety.
This project adds a new road to Sacyr Concesiones’ portfolio in Chile, which has nine operating assets. Added to this is the recent attribution, awaiting formalization, of the Itata Route.
Sacyr is present in the Valparaíso and metropolitan regions through the concession of the San Antonio-Santiago highway, Route 78, a route of vital importance for commerce, tourism and the connection between the capital and the coast; and Ruta de la Fruta, an important highway for the agricultural development of the central area of Chile.
In 1996, Sacyr received the first concession in Chile, for the construction and operation of the Los Vilos-La Serena highway, marking the beginning of its participation in the concession system. Since then, it has developed projects in its three key areas: Concessions, Engineering and Infrastructure and Water.
Currently, we distinguish the concession of five airports and nine motorways, seven hospitals in different phases of execution and five treatment plants which cover the complete water cycle.
