In line with the objectives of the Friends Group on Culture-Based Climate Action under the UNFCCC (GFCBCA), the session will explore how cultural factors influence systemic transitions to adapt to and mitigate climate change, increase inclusion and reduce climate and national change. vulnerability.
In a panel discussion moderated by Mahnaz Anwar Fansi, Chief Art Researcher at the UAE Ministry of Culture, Ernesto Ottone (Deputy Director General of Culture at UNESCO), Dana Firas (Chairperson of Petra National Trust, Special Representative of CHN GFCBCA) , Konstantinos Kartalis (Professor of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens participated) and Nicholas Boucho (senior advisor, advisor to the Dean of the ADB Institute, advisor to the World Conference on Creative Economy).
Panelists highlighted the need for a cultural perspective when shaping sustainable production, consumption and mitigation practices, and discussed how initiatives like the GFCBCA are using scientific and evidence-based approaches to advocate for climate action based on the culture.
