Italy live this Friday what will be the second general strike against the government of Giorgia Meloni at the call of two large Italian unions, CGIL and UIL, protest against the 2025 general budgets.
The mobilization, in which the other majority union CISL does not participate, was convened to request a modification of the general budgets, considered insufficient to resolve the country’s problems and to demand a increase in the purchasing power of wages and pensions and financing of health, education, public services and industrial policies.
The Minister of Transport, Matteo Salvinilimited the strike to four hours in the sector, alleging that there have been numerous stoppages in recent months, therefore in the Local public transport, air and sea will stop from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. respecting minimum services.
While in Air transport will be stopped from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and the company Ita Airways has already canceled 68 flights, including 18 international and 50 national.
The strike will also affect health sectorwith the exception of essential services which will be guaranteed in all cases.
“General practitioners, outpatient clinics, psychologists, veterinarians, biologists, chemists, physicists, pharmacists and health professions executives will participate in the strike against the worst finance law in the last 30 years, which cuts resources, personnel and services for leave the domain of profit and the private sector free,” explained Andrea Filippi, national secretary of the sector at the CGIL.
In the field of education at the moment most schools have opened their doors.
Demonstrations are also planned across Italy, in which members of the opposition Democratic Party (PD) will participate. In Rome, PD leader Elly Schlein will march against the budget.
