The woman dragged by her partner’s car on Monday in Madrid has died in intensive care at the 12 de Octubre Hospital as a result of her serious injuries. The 33-year-old victim argued with her partner, a Dominican citizen, and tried to get into the car holding on to the door while the vehicle was moving, receiving a violent blow to the head in addition to suffering fractures to his extremities. The man was arrested at the scene and is being investigated if it is a case of gender-based violence.
The events took place around 4:30 pm this Monday on Concejo de Teverga Street and Avenida de Entrevías, in the Madrid neighborhood of Puente de Vallecas. There, the couple started an argument inside their home in the presence of their youngest daughter. At that moment, they both hit each other and the fight continued when they went out into the street.
A few minutes later, the couple went to their car and continued the confrontation inside the vehicle, so much so that the woman ended up getting out of the car. At that point, the man started the car and the woman tried to get in by opening the door and holding on to the frame, but the vehicle did not stop, picked up speed and even mounted the sidewalk, causing the woman to be thrown and crashed to the ground, according to some witnesses.
After the incident, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene by car but returned after a few moments and surrendered to the police already on the scene. The man, a 33-year-old Dominican citizen, was taken to hospital to be treated for a head injury and then taken to the police station.
Accused of mistreatment
The Homicide Group has taken charge of the investigation, since it already accuses him of homicide, but also of a crime against road safety and another of failure to provide assistance. They also accuse him of abuseThe man has a history of gender-based violence with a former partner.
Meanwhile, Samur-Civil Protection paramedics attended to the woman dragged by the car at that time, who suffered from severe head trauma and several fractures in her left upper limb and left lower limb. After being stabilized and intubated, she was transferred with notice to the 12 de Octubre Hospital, where she died today in intensive care.
The officers collected statements from several witnesses to the events, who provided conflicting versions of what happened. Members of the municipal police’s traffic police were also present at the scene.
