Works on the A-15 in Navarre that will affect traffic for eight months

THE second phase of works reinforcement in tunnels Oindolar and Gorosmendi, on the A-15, will begin next Friday, so traffic will be completely cut off until Sunday afternoon to install the bypasswhich will be in force in the section located between the two corridors until spring 2025.

The budget allocated for this phase of the project amounts to 17.28 million euros (VAT included), the Provincial Council said in a press release.

The works include the reinforcement of the plaster, the renewal of the drainage network, the installation of fire protection and ventilation systems, as well as the modernization of the lighting system with LED technologywhich will reduce energy consumption by 40%.

In addition, new communication and communications systems will be installed. Automatic Incident Detection (AID) to improve traffic management and reduce response times in the event of an emergency.

Regarding the deadlines, the main intervention, focused on civil engineering works, will extend from October to March and, in parallel, the modernization of installations and technological systems. will move forward from November to May.

With this second phase, the modernization of three of the four tunnels of the Gipuzkoan section of the A-15 will be completed, the work on which began in 2018 with the San Lorenzo Tunnel.

In 2021, the intervention was carried out in the opening towards Pamplona del Belabieta Tunnel and at the end of 2025, work will begin in the opposite direction.

During the duration of the works Oindolar and Gorosmendi, Traffic will be diverted to the opposite tubes, while vehicles exceeding 3 metres in width or 4.5 metres in height, special transport and dangerous goods will be prohibited from passing and will have to take alternative routes, duly marked.

On the other hand, the Provincial Government Council proceeded to appoint 68 people as trainee civil servants in the Provincial Council Fire Prevention, Extinguishing and Rescue Service.

The nominations correspond to the selection process of 68 fire stationslinked to public job offers from 2019, 2020 and 2021.
