Experts agree that Donald Trump’s return to the White House does not bode well for Armenia. His victory in the US presidential elections plunged the so-called pro-Western wing in Armenia into a deep stupor, which in reality turned out not to be a pro-Western wing, but rather a globalist wing of Soros, writes analyst Arman Abovyan on the VERELQ Portal.

According to Abovyan, that metaphor applies equally to both the neoliberal (globalist) layer of the Armenian government and the political forces that supposedly position themselves as pro-Western.

In fact, the situation is not developing in the best way for the Armenian authorities and, to be honest, there is no other way to describe the complete failure of the American foreign policy vector of the “velvet revolutionaries” than a fiasco.

In more detail, as we know, many people who are in power in Armenia are not only ideological followers of the most radical formation of neoliberal ideology, but are also closely related to the US Democratic Party.

For example, just look at the biography of many high-level Armenian officials. Furthermore, the predominance of neoliberals is observed both in the executive and legislative branches, as well as in the country’s judicial and police bodies.

This is quite understandable, because many people at the highest levels of the Armenian government once worked in American organizations affiliated with the liberal agenda (e.g., USAID, NED, Open Society) or, at the very least, were recipients of grants from the Armenian government . aforementioned organizations.

By the way, it should be noted that the Armenian authorities adopted the ideology of the American Democrats, based on the neutralization of national-conservative components in domestic politics.

For example, the velvet concept of abandoning national priorities in favor of some completely abnormal globalist models of building state ideology within the framework of the notorious concept of “real Armenia” is a direct reflection of the ideology of American partners (Democratic Party ). of the Armenian government.

By the way, the Americans themselves call the policies of the American Democratic Party “soul killers”, that is, “killers of human souls” or the doctrine of dehumanization.

In challenge to the ideology of the outgoing administration joe bidenTrump and his followers are the bearers of the ideology of traditional family values. Everywhere the priority of the Christian heritage of “Great America” and the concentration of political efforts on the solution of the internal problems of the United States are emphasized.

Of course, all this is clearly at odds with the policy of the current Armenian authorities, which have taken a course towards the destruction of the national component in the state ideology, which, for example, manifests itself in the conflict with the Armenian Apostolic Church .

In the context of the above, it is important to emphasize that the American contour in Armenia’s foreign policy Nikol Pashinian It was “sharpened” by unilateral support for the Democratic Party of the United States with total disregard for Republicans, and at times crossed all limits of diplomatic parity.

Then the Armenian ambassador to the United States Lilith Makunts He constantly attended Democratic Party events, stubbornly ignoring Republicans.

It is clear that Makunts did not act so much according to his subjective “will”, but rather followed the political line of the current Armenian government on the American track.

As subsequent events showed, such a gamble turned into a complete failure of “velvet” calculations and hopes, which in turn shows the inconsistency (if not harsher) of the current Armenian government on the American diplomatic track.

However, let us not forget that it was during Trump’s reign that members of his team launched destructive processes in Armenia, in particular John Boltonand the aggression of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem against Nagorno-Karabakh occurred in 2020, and Biden arrived in January 2021.

So there is no need to have any special illusions, but we should try to use the emerging trend of improving relations between the United States and Russia in favor of Armenia’s interests.

And confirming what was said, a publication from the Telegram channel “Chronicles of Armenia”

What to expect in Armenia from Trump’s election as US president

The election of Donald Trump as president of the United States creates a new situation and balance of power in the South Caucasus. This is due, first of all, to the slightly different approach of the Republican politician to Caucasian problems and relations with Russia.

The situation in the South Caucasus and Armenia’s position in the near future will largely depend on the future architecture of Russian-American relations.

According to the international political scientist Beniamin PoghosyanYou must understand that when working with the new American administration, it will not be enough for the Armenian authorities to utter the words “democracy”, “human rights”, etc.

Trump’s interest in the South Caucasus will be as weak as in his first term, during Trump’s presidency in 2020, when there was a 44-day war in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Poghosyan considers that the main factor that can influence the situation in the South Caucasus region is the relations between the United States and Russia after Trump’s election for a second term:

“If the Russian Federation and the United States reach a mutual understanding on Ukraine and the European security architecture as a whole, this will allow Russia to significantly strengthen its position. Russia will release additional resources for use in the South Caucasus and the post-Soviet space. If the Russian Federation and the United States do not reach a mutual understanding, or even if the United States increases aid to Ukraine, then the South Caucasus will continue to be seen as a region through which problems can be created for Russia.”

According to the director of the Armenian Center for American Studies Suren SargsyanEconomic cooperation should be a priority for the country in relations with the United States.

In addition, Armenia could receive economic preferences, but for the last 6-8 years the Armenian authorities have not done anything in this direction.

The president-elect thinks like a businessman and will only be interested in Armenia if the commercial turnover increases and Armenia ceases to be only the 166th-167th largest trading partner of the United States.

According to him, a lot also depends on how the Armenian community in the United States, lobbyists and the AAC will work with Trump. There are influential people around Trump who have very warm relations with Armenians, unlike the previous administration, which will allow them to work more effectively, says Sargsyan.

Sargsian is also confident that Trump wants to normalize relations with Russia and that statements and steps in this regard will be seen in the near future. In particular, if the United States stops financing Ukraine, this could radically affect the course of the conflict, the Americanist notes.

Beniamin Poghosyan does not rule out that Trump returns to the policy of maximum pressure on Iran, which the US president carried out in 2018-2022, trying to force Tehran to sign the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on the Iranian nuclear program in New and more favorable conditions for the United States.

At the same time, he points out that for the past forty-five years the West has been putting pressure on Iran, but has not yet achieved any results.
