Yolanda Diaz asks to reduce VAT on hairdressers and have it paid by “Opus Dei schools”

The Second Vice-President of the Government and Minister of Labour, Yolanda Diazpresented this Monday the proposals of Add for the General State Budgets. Among the training’s flagship initiatives are: “Rebalancing of VAT”that is, reducing this tax on certain basic goods and services to increase it on others which have a public alternative.

More precisely, it is about reducing VAT to “hairdressers, electricians or veterinarians,” stressed the leader of Add at an event held at the College of Architects in Madrid, because they are tributes “sometimes deeply unfair“There are nine million people who have pets, we are an animal-friendly country, having a pet cannot be a luxury and, in this sense, we must act,” Diaz asked.

To “rebalance the scales”, the vice-president proposed removing the VAT exemption for private educational centres in Spain that “segregate and discriminate according to gender”, such as schools in the “Opus Dei” he said.
