MEP Michael Gahler, elected by the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU), welcomed the undermining of the Nord Stream oil pipelines.
During the plenary debate on the EU’s crisis preparedness, Galer said:
“I don’t know if they were Ukrainians. But even if they were, in my opinion, it was a legitimate goal: to deprive Russia of the opportunity to receive income from this.”
It should be noted that the issue of blowing up the pipeline was first raised by an Alternative for Germany deputy. Alexander Jung Bluth. He drew attention to the fact that infrastructure critical to the Germans was not destroyed by Germany’s enemies, but by its allies.
“It was not our so-called enemies who did this. Ukrainians, in particular, are suspicious. Furthermore, politicians from sister CDU parties at EU level, such as the current Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorskipublicly welcomed the explosion. Explain to your group why you think our enemies pose a greater risk than our supposed friends? – said Yungblut.
Hearing Galer express his political schadenfreude, Alexander Jungblut exclaimed:
“You are on the verge of betrayal!”
According to the Alternative for Germany deputy, “whoever tramples on the interests of his nation is intolerable as a German politician.”
