Mahdi: “I am jazz pianist and electronic musician Mehdi Rzayev. My stage name is “KARAN”. I was born into a family of musicians in the Masalli region. I graduated from a seven-year music school and then entered the music department from Lankaran. State Humanitarian College to the piano faculty.”

Grenade: “My name is Anar Valizadeh. I graduated from the Azerbaijan National Conservatory with a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. In the field of education, I continued my development in music. – How did you become interested in this profession?

Mahdi: “My interest in music and performing began at a very young age. Music has always been a means of expression for me, a powerful way to touch people’s emotions and create a different world. Anar: “My interest in music has been formed since my childhood. At first I had a great passion for drums and played this instrument for 9 years. Later, focusing my choice on the balaban, I continued my path with this instrument. Balaban’s voice evoked deep and special feelings in me, I wanted to express myself with this instrument. “The desire to convey Balaban’s place in Azerbaijani culture and its deep emotional nuances to more people inspired me to go further in this field.”

– What competitions have you participated in so far?

Mahdi: “So far, I have participated in many local and international competitions. Each of them has given me great experience and learning opportunities. Last time I participated in the Djooky Music Awards in the United States and won in the jazz and blues category between 120 countries. This success is mine and it was also a great honor for him.”

Grenade: “Since 2018, I have participated in many local and international competitions and won first place. In 2018, I won first place in the “Testene Art Baku” competition, a joint project of Italy and Azerbaijan. At the “Carnegie Hall” in New York, USA, I won “1st place” in the music competitions “International Music Talent Competition Fall-2018” and “World Harmony” and was awarded a diploma and a medal. Mahdi: “Last time we won a competition held in Barcelona, ​​Spain, a few days ago, with a solo performance and a group performance with my friend Anar Velizadeh. It is a great honor to raise the name of our country and bring our culture to the world stage. Armenians also participated in the competition. When we went on stage It was as if we were on a battlefield, the aggressive pressure of the Armenian participants did not affect us.
