The student residence Yugo Plazaola of Pamplona This 2024-25 academic year is added to those already existing in the Navarrese capital to offer accommodation to young people who come to public and private universities, in addition to distance universities.
The Navarrese capital already hosts many residences which were created a few years ago, as is the case of Soto House in the Soto neighborhood of Lezkairu, Amro Pamplona either Livensa Living in the second Ensanche of the city.
In the case of Yugo Plazaola, It is located at the entrance to Pamplona on the Zaragoza highway, next to the roundabout of the monument to Maestro Sabicas.very close to the El Sadar stadium where Osasuna plays, and a few minutes from the two most important universities.
“We have been here since August. On September 1st we started welcoming young people in the residence and we are very happy. We have a very friendly group of children living with us in a completely new building and rooms,” say those responsible for Yugo Plazaola.
The director of the residence is Eva Mendiluce and the deputy director is Fermín Percaz. It is a building which has 350 rooms spread over seven floors and different types of rooms: individual, shared and apartments “with everything children need. We have three active floors and we have opened a fourth. We can’t complain about being the first year.”
Everything is very well decorated, with lots of details: “It’s done with a lot of care. We have a lot of green space, many plants, three terraces with three different environments and lots of natural light,” they say.
Some residents are from Pamplona, ”but the majority are from the Basque Country, foreigners, Asians, Americans, Italians, French… a bit of everything they study at both universities. “We are very well connected, halfway between a private university and a public university.”
Concerning the entry and exit times of the residence: “We have a concept in which The children are free to come and go, but we are very attentive to them, that they are well, that they are studying, that they are going to class, but of course that they are absolutely free to enter or leave whenever they wish,” they indicate.
The entrance hall of the residence has a dining room in the background: “We have different services such as full board, half board, five days, seven days. “We adapt to the needs of the children so that they enjoy their stay.”
The Yugo company has 250 residences around the world and in Spain it has almost twenty. They have very specific values ”like the theme of sustainability, education and also the personal growth of the students who live with us. All the activities we do and the treatment we try to focus on these pillars so that everything goes a little better,” say those responsible for Yugo Plazaola.
There are several common areas such as the terrace, TV room, study room and dining room. Bed linen and towels are provided and washed once a week. There is a laundry service, bicycle parking and a gym.
