The CEO of CFE confirmed the institute’s obligation to guarantee the supply of energy in the southeast of the country, where Yukatan is a priority state in accordance with the instructions of President Claudia Sheinbaum.

At the press conference, the official emphasized that the power of energy generation in Yukatan will be increased by 38.2 percent with the commissioning of the central combined cycle of Mérida and the combined cycle Riviera Maya-Valladolid.

The total throughput, including the transmission link, will reach about 5486 megavatts.

He explained that the Mérida IV plant will bring 500 megavatts to the system that will be added to 1853 megavatts generated by other CFE plants in Merid and Walladolide, as well as in thousands of 306 megabytes from private manufacturers, reaching a total of 3 thousand 159 megavatts in the region.

The peninsula already has a general throughput, which exceeds its maximum historical demand, which allows to ensure a continuous and reliable proposal for Yukatan, Campache and Kintan Ru. He also noted that the electrical failures facing the region have their origin in decades of leaving and lack of planning, which left the infrastructure without sufficient opportunities to respond to the rapid growth of Yukatan and Kintan Ru.
