Israel’s declaration of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres as persona non grata is the country’s sovereign right, but it will not help the cause of peace. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, María Zajárova, in a comment to RTVI.
“But this will not help the cause of peace. If anyone is to blame for the current situation and the UN’s inability to speak out, it is Washington, which has blocked more than one draft UN Security Council resolution and once again thwarted diplomatic efforts with its clumsy actions.” —said the diplomat quoted by TASS.
He added that declaring oneself persona non grata is a sovereign right of the country.
