In recent days, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made dozens of phone calls with world leaders after confirming his meeting on Friday in Alaska with his American colleague Donald Trump with the Russian leader Vladimir.
“The end of the war should be fair, and I am grateful to all those who stand on the side of Ukraine and our people for the sake of peace in Ukraine, which protects the vital interests of our European nations,” said the leader of Ukraine as the leader of Ukraine and the European Commission.
With a carefully selected diplomatic language, this statement is intended to support Trump’s efforts to put an end to the full war of Russia against Ukraine and at the same time convey a thorough warning to the US President not to trust Putin.
“Significant negotiations can occur only in the context of the ceasefire or a reduction in hostilities,” the leaders said in a joint statement.
“The path to the world in Ukraine cannot be resolved without Ukraine. At first, we remain that the international border should not change with violence, ”the statement said, since the leading politicians in Europe emphasized that they” continue to stand on the side of Ukraine. “
For Zelensky, the message of Trump is clear and stable. “We understand the intention of Russia to try to deceive America – we will not allow this,” he said, adding that “he greatly appreciates the determination with which President Trump took the obligation to put an end to the murders in this war.”
“The only main reason for these murders is Putin’s desire to wage war and manipulate everyone who comes into contact with him. We know Russia well in Ukraine, ”concluded Zelensky.
Putin wants peace?
Before the first invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2014, and then in the Moscow complete war in 2022, Putin repeatedly stated that he was not going to attack Ukraine.
In February and March 2014, when Russian soldiers blocked the main airport of Ukraine and military bases in Crimea, Putin repeatedly confirmed that this was not Russian forces.
Although they looked like Russian soldiers and acted as Moscow paratroopers, Putin repeatedly denied that they were Russian troops. He even said that their equipment can be easily bought in a store with military excesses.
The Kremlin never commented on exactly where it was possible to buy a Russian outfit along with automatic weapons and a grenade launcher. Russian soldiers referred to the “little green little men”, until it became too late.
Putin denied everything until the last minute, when he proudly announced the annexation of Crimea, admitting that he developed Russian troops on the peninsula a few weeks before the annexation.
Celebrating the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine in 2014, Putin denied the presence of Russian troops in the eastern parts of a neighboring country, since Moscow soldiers had already attacked and occupied territories in the districts of Donetsk and Luhaank in Ukraine.
By the end of 2021, Western information authorities strengthened their warnings that Russia was preparing to invade Ukraine. When Moscow gathered 200,000 troops on the border, Putin repeatedly stated that military exercises were “purely protective” and “they have no threat to any other country”.
“Russia does not plan to invade Ukraine,” the Kremlin said a few days until February 24, 2022.
Vladimir, stop!
During the debate last summer, before the US presidential election, Trump refused to say if Ukraine wants to win the aggressive war of Russia.
“I want the war to stop,” he said to the presidential election and since he returned to the White House.
Until recently, Trump has repeatedly stated that Russia seemed more willing than Ukraine, in order to reach an agreement, reaching a point, saying that he knew Putin for a long time and “we always walked well.”
At the same time, Trump’s rhetoric for Zelensky was the other way around. In February, the US president called him a “dictator without elections”, partially repeating the Kremlin’s narrative.
In an unprecedented scandal in the White House on February 28, Trump accused Zelensky of not grateful and ultimately did not want the Russian war to end. “You play gambling in the Second World War,” said Trump Zelensky, supporting the line of Moscow Kiev, which does not correspond to the end of the war.
The Ukrainian president devoted considerable time and efforts not only to restore diplomatic relations with the Trump government, but also to prove that Ukrainians want more than someone else in order to put an end to the Russian war, with an obstacle in Moscow, and not in Kyiv.
Trump changed his rhetoric against Putin, when in April he reacted to the serial attacks of Russia in Kyiv, writing about the truth of the social: “Vladimir, stop!”
Since Moscow and Kyiv restored direct negotiations with Constantinople, Trump was increasingly annoyed by the absence of some kind of indignation and unwillingness of Moscow to agree to the ceasefire as a first step towards a possible peacekeeping agreement.
In July, when Russia significantly strengthened its daily air attacks in Ukraine, the US president for the first time admitted that he was not satisfied with his Russian colleague.
“Putin throws us a lot of shit if you want to know the truth. This is very good all the time, but it turns out that it does not make sense, ”Trump said.
“I was very disappointed by President Putin, I thought that they were those who had in mind what he said. He will speak so beautifully, and then bombard people at night. We don’t like it. ”
Trump turned even more to Putin later, as he imposed an extreme term of the ceasefire in Moscow, appointed on last Friday.
“I do not want to say that he is a killer, but he is a cool guy. This has been proven all these years. ” Trump told Putin when he threatened to bring secondary responsibilities aimed at Russian commercial partners in an attempt to isolate Moscow if the Kremlin did not agree with the cessation of fire until August 8.
“He deceived many people in the past,” Trump added, just two weeks before Moscow ignored the deadline, and Washington does not impose sanctions in response.
On the contrary, the presidents of the United States and Russia will now meet in Alaska on August 15.
“(Putin) Filmed Clinton, Bush, Obama, Biden, did not deceive me, ”Trump said, because the Russian president managed to avoid more stringent sanctions for Moscow and secondary sanctions for his commercial partners. Zelensky and EU representatives who put an end to the suppressing diplomatic isolation, but not stopping their full war in Ukraine.
