Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky congratulated Donald Trump on his apparent victory in the elections.
“Congratulations to Donald Trump on his impressive election victory! “I remember our wonderful meeting with President Trump in September, when we discussed in detail the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, the Victory Plan and ways to stop Russian aggression against Ukraine,” Zelensky wrote.
The Ukrainian president highlighted Trump’s commitment to the principle of “peace through strength,” which Zelensky said could lead to real peace in Ukraine. “It is this principle that can really bring a just peace in Ukraine closer. I hope that together we will give it life,” Zelensky added.
He also expressed hope that the United States will be strong under Trump’s leadership, noting that Ukraine hopes for continued strong bipartisan support in the United States. “We look forward to an era of a strong United States of America under the decisive leadership of President Trump,” he said.
Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is interested in developing mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States, which benefits both countries. “Ukraine, as one of the strongest military powers in Europe, strives to ensure long-term peace and security in Europe and the transatlantic community with the support of our allies,” he said.
“I look forward to having the opportunity to personally congratulate President Trump and discuss ways to strengthen Ukraine’s strategic partnership with the United States,” Zelensky concluded.
