Zelensky to end war this fall

The Ukrainian president has realized that there are no good prospects on the front and is also faced with the risk of a reduction in military assistance. In this regard, the Ukrainian government is working on a unilateral roadmap to end the war. The basis of this plan is international pressure on Russia, as reported by EFE.

At the same time, the Ukrainian president does not speak directly about the measures that will be taken; instead, it is the journalists themselves who are putting together the puzzle. However, the closer the US presidential elections are, the broader the agenda of Zelensky’s plan becomes. So, according to the schedule, the war should end this autumn if Ukraine’s allies exert sufficient pressure on the Kremlin.

According to reports in his address to the nation on Sunday, Zelensky revealed some details of the “victory plan” to the US congressional delegation that met on the sidelines of the Italian economic forum.

Vladimir Zelensky He first spoke of this “victory plan” on August 27, when he explained that he plans to present this document to US President Joe Biden, as well as to the Republican and Democratic candidates who will replace him, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, in the November elections.

According to him, one of the main factors for this will be the success of the Ukrainian operation in the Russian Kursk region, where kyiv controls about 1,300 square kilometers after the start of the cross-border offensive.

“It seems that the aim of the Kursk operation was to force Moscow to send troops from Donbass, to raise morale in the country and perhaps force Putin to negotiate,” Ukrainian analyst Vladimir Dubovik told Efe.

However, this plan did not work: Putin is prepared for a long and protracted war, unlike Ukraine.

According to Zelensky, in addition to the possibility of exchanging occupied territories between kyiv and Moscow, the plan has an economic aspect and proposals on the role that kyiv should play in the international security architecture. The fourth pillar of the document details the measures that Russia must take to stop its military aggression against Ukraine.

In parallel with the presentation of this plan to its partners, kyiv is preparing to organise a second Peace Summit before the end of the year, to which it plans to seriously invite Russia. It is clear from the statements of Zelensky and other Ukrainian representatives that the aim of this second meeting is to bring as many countries as possible to pressure Russia to accept peace on the terms proposed by kyiv in a document called the “victory plan.”

Earlier, Kursor reported that Ukraine could begin returning its territories as early as 2025, and for this it only needs sufficient Western help. The operation in the Kursk region will allow Ukraine to gain time for the supply of weapons from its allies.
