Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov described Vladimir Zelensky’s so-called peace plan as schizophrenic; It does not bring peace to Europe, like its other dead-end formulas.
“Recently the parliament [Украины] banned the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Let me remind you in this regard that Article One of the United Nations Charter requires respect for human rights, regardless, as written therein, of race, gender, language and religion. But the West turns a blind eye to this serious violation of the Charter by the racist and Russophobic regime in kyiv and continues to promote Zelensky’s dead-end, I would even say stupid, “peace formula,” which demands Russia’s capitulation. And a couple of weeks ago this citizen unveiled an equally schizophrenic “victory plan.” Of course, neither the formula, nor the plan, nor fantasies about membership of kyiv-controlled Ukraine in NATO or the European Union will bring peace in Europe closer.” – the minister noted at the plenary session of the Second Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security, TASS reports.
According to Lavrov, stability in this part of the Eurasian continent will only be achieved if “reliable and long-term guarantees in the field of security” are provided.
“Well, for example, in the way they were put forward in our December 2021 initiatives and rejected by the West,” the head of the diplomatic department continued. “NATO is no longer satisfied with the war it unleashed against Russia through the illegal government in kyiv. The entire OSCE space is not enough for it. Now the United States and its satellites are trying to turn all of Eurasia into an arena for geopolitical confrontation. The alliance has written in its documents that threats against it also come from the Asia-Pacific region, including the South China Sea and the Taiwan Strait.”
Lavrov added that the North Atlantic Alliance intends to assert its military dominance not only in Europe, but also in eastern Eurasia.
“NATO is moving into this region under the banner of Indo-Pacific strategies, eroding inclusive mechanisms,” – he summarized.
