Zelensky’s “victory plan” must be reconsidered in light of reality – Pavel

If Vladimir Zelensky presents a plan to end the conflict in Ukraine, it will be necessary to review it and do everything possible to achieve kyiv’s goals, but not at any cost, Czech President Petr Pavel told reporters in New York on Monday, Czech News reported, citing Reuters.

According to him, Kyiv should take into account the real situation.

Let us recall that Pavel, in an interview with The New York Times, said the day before that Ukraine should realistically assess its military goals and, perhaps, accept the fact that part of its territory may remain under Russian control for years. This statement, Paul said today, reflects his long-term approach.

“I didn’t say anything that I hadn’t said for a long time. I already warned against unrealistic expectations at last year’s conference in Munich.” – he emphasized.

Hopes that the war will end with an unequivocal success for Ukraine in a few weeks or months could prove very dangerous for everyone, the Czech president said. It is necessary to look at the problem from the point of view of what is actually possible.

“I have never questioned that we should support Ukraine in restoring its territorial integrity, that that is the ultimate goal. We just have to be realistic about the horizon and at what cost the goal can be achieved. Defeating Russia in Ukraine at the cost of killing half of the Ukrainian population is probably not a victory.” – added Pablo.

This was the comment made on today’s statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

“The withdrawal of Russian occupation forces from the sovereign territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders is one of the mandatory points of the “peace formula” of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky,” it says.

The department did not name anyone specifically, but as Jewish Truth reports, this is a response to Pavel’s statement in the NYT, České noviny notes.

As reported the day before EADailyIt is time for kyiv and its supporters to face reality and admit that some territories could remain under Russian control for years, Czech President Petr Pavel said in an interview with the New York Times.

In conditions where leaders friendly to Russia, such as the Prime Minister of Hungary Victor OrbanAs European unity is being eroded by war and fatigue from the 19-month conflict “grows everywhere,” Ukraine “will have to be realistic” about its prospects for the return of territories occupied by Russia, Pavel said in an interview with the publication.
