In a rare positive gesture, the President of Ukraine Voludimir Zelenski confirmed his readiness to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Istanbul next Thursday, saying that “it makes no sense to extend the war.”
Zelinski, in a post about X, called on Russia to accept the 30 -day truce proposed by the allies of Kyiv, and said that he was waiting for Putin’s participation in peace negotiations in the Turkic.
He added: “We expect a complete and always ceasefire from today (Monday) to ensure the necessary foundations for diplomacy,” adding: “I will wait for Putin in the Turkic on Thursday, personally. And I hope that the Russians will not look for this time for excuses. ”
Zelinsky’s statement appeared a few hours after Putin’s proposal (Sunday), “direct” and “quick” negotiations in order to end the war. The Kremlin was pleased with the announcement that the head of the Russian delegation would be used in the coming hours.
For his part, US President Donald Trump called on both sides to meet with “without waiting for a ceasefire”, expressing the hope of “stop the bloody woman”.
