“We also have a moral responsibility to take immediate action as part of global efforts to address climate change.”
Oku.Az These words were reportedly said by the new Minister of Culture and Tourism of North Macedonia, Zoran Ljutkov, during his speech at the first meeting of ministers on improving climate action in the tourism sector within the framework of Tourism Day at COP29.
He said that the country of Macedonia has a wide and rich history:
“Visitors are offered the opportunity to enjoy the rich multicultural wealth by visiting churches, monasteries, mosques, archaeological cities, ancient buildings, markets and modern shopping centers, etc. However, all this that we have as a country is a strong source of tourists. Traffic is a challenge and is subject to multiple influences, so ensuring its protection is a very important issue.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Macedonia is actively involved in creating tourism policies, protecting culture and wealth, as well as supporting cooperation through the tourism sector. I would also like to emphasize the generous support of the Macedonian government for the implementation of the project, which will once again present the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of our country. “Therefore, we must all work together to strengthen measures against climate change.”
The minister noted that success in solving problems requires great commitment and active participation at all levels:
“Government, private sector, citizens and, of course, international cooperation. Therefore, this conference will be intensive in new actions and solutions that restore the balance between the development of tourism and the protection of the natural and living environment.
