Zuheros Cheese Fair opens with more than 40 varieties from all over Spain

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, inaugurated this Thursday the 21st edition of the Zuheros Cheese Fair, which offers visitors up to 23 exhibitors of typical products, both of national origin and from some European countries, such as Sweden. With a wide variety of cheeses, activities for the whole family and a unique environment, the Fair promises to bring together thousands of people. Among the authorities who participated in the start of the activity was also the deputy delegate of Economic development, promotion and employment, Félix Romero.

The event, which will take place until next Sunday, presents more than forty varieties of cheese from all over Spain, so it will be easy to find both classic and innovative types. In addition to the exhibition and sale of cheeses, the Fair offers artisanal production workshops, tastings, technical days and competitions. So, not only will you be able to taste cheese, but you will also learn everything about this food. At the same time, the event offers organic wine tasting.

Tastings

Among the types of cheese that can be tasted and purchased are cow’s cheese, goat’s cheese, sheep’s cheese, mixed cheese and cheese with different degrees of ripening: fresh, semi-hardenedsalty and soft paste, dried goat with rosemary and olive oil, matured goat, mud cake, matured sheep’s milk and also with herbs. Many of these cheeses are made with raw milk and some of them are certified organic and have been awarded nationally and internationally.

Among the varieties are: Castrum-Erat Cheese Factory (Badajoz), La Cañada Real Soriana SAT (Toledo), Lácteos Romero Pelaez, SL (Jaén), Los Balanchares, Quesería Artesanal Monte Robledo Aracena, SL (Huelva) and Quesería Doña Francisca (Cáceres).

According to the Fair’s organization, this event “is not only an opportunity to taste the best cheeses in the country, but also to promote the value of artisanal cheese and its multiple forms of production.” Since its beginnings in 2003, the Cheese Fair has grown considerably, attracting more than 15,000 visitors each year, in a town with barely 600 inhabitants. This large flow of people makes Zuheros an epicenter of cheese for four days, filling its streets with activity and people eager to taste one of the city’s most appreciated products. spanish gastronomyhas.
