The president of Georgia, Salomé Zurabishvili, declared herself the only legitimate representative of power in the country and called on the country’s inhabitants to disobey the authorities.
“Today I am the only legitimate institution of this country, the only legitimate representative of this country, the only one who has the right to speak to the world on behalf of our society. I will do this and I will be here until the end, I will be there for you and the community. “This is a resistance movement.” – said the president, whose powers in this position are about to expire.
Zurabishvili called to get up from the sofas:
“I appeal to all those who sit in front of the television, to those who do not watch it: do not lose hope, do not allow anyone to dare and kill today’s protest. Intransigence, defiance and resistance, and I will be faithful to this to the end, just as you will be faithful to the end.” – the president calls.
He also advised the police and military to “make the right decision.”
EADaily reported that today, November 28, the Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced that Tbilisi will suspend negotiations on Georgia’s EU accession until 2028. Zurabishvili held an “emergency meeting” with his administration’s ambassadors and opposition leaders. In the afternoon, protests against the Georgian Dream decision began in Georgian cities.
