🎙PODCAST | ETA convictions: keys, errors and opacity

A week ago, all the parliamentary groups voted in Congress, and without much controversy, in favor of a proposal by Sumar so that ETA detainees could validate in Spain the prison time they spent in other countries. The victims of terrorism then denounced what this reform implied: around forty members of ETA will be incarcerated for a shorter period than planned. A political battle then erupted that prompted Feijóo and Abascal to apologize to the victims and say that they had not realized what they were actually endorsing. The PSOE, for its part, did not explain or defend the consequences of a measure that it had agreed years ago with EH Bildu. The PP is now trying to back down by using its absolute majority in the Senate to paralyze the Law.

Did the PP really not realize what it was approving of? Why didn’t the PSOE announce the reform? What does Sumar mean in all this? We try to answer these questions with elDiario.es journalists Elena Herrera, Aitor Riveiro and José Enrique Monrosi.
