The 65 most affected municipalities are located mainly in the regions of L’Horta Sud, La Plana de Utiel-Requena, La Hoya de Buñol, La Ribera Alta, L’Horta Sud, El Camp del Turia as well as certain municipalities of La Ribera Baja. and Los Serranos and three neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city of Valencia.

All represent a population of 845,371 inhabitantswhich represents approximately a third of the census of the province of Valencia.

In the affected municipal areas, including the affected districts of the capital of Turia, there are 54,289 companies – one in three commercial enterprises in the province -, 123 business parks and industrial zones; and more than 354,000 workers reside there, or 33.5% of the total members.

The report prepared by the Chamber of Commerce notes that the effects of DANA have affected all types of economic activities, from agriculture to industrial and service activities.

The document that analyzes the consequences of the passage of the cold drop through the cities of Valencia reveals that, in at least 32 localities affected by the storm, the damage caused can be considered “serious or very important, due to its consequences in terms of losses. of human lives, the impact on large urbanized areas and the severity of the consequences on housing, infrastructure and services, with a high degree of impact on local economic activity.

The report highlights that between 4,000 and 4,500 premises located on the ground floor where economic activity took place, may have suffered considerable damage. Of these, between 1,600 and 1,800 would correspond to stores or retail commercial establishments heavily affected by the damage.

Furthermore, the consequences of this phenomenon affected, at least, the functioning of 34 municipal markets and eleven parks and shopping centers.

DANA’s zero point, which has the highest number of dead and missing, is logically the one that bears the heaviest burden in terms of the most affected economic activities. According to the data available so far by the Chamber of Commerce, these are Alaquàs, Albal, Aldaia, Alfafar, Algemesí, Benetússer, Catarroja, Llocnou de la Corona, Massanassa, Paiporta, Picanya, Sedaví, Utiel and the La Torre district of the city of Valencia.

In these municipalities There was “the flooding of hundreds of premises, warehouses and commercial premises with material damage to installations, equipment, furniture and vehicles to varying degrees, and deterioration or loss of stocks, products and stored goods”.

The Alfafar Parc Commercial Park, the Sedaví Commercial Park, MN4 and the Bonaire Shopping Center were the large commercial facilities most affected, not only by flooding but also by looting which also affected businesses located in urban areas.
