Kazakhstan to introduce tighter control over drivers’ working hours

The Tachograph campaign will be held in Kazakhstan from September to October 9 to strengthen control over compliance with the work and rest regime of drivers engaged in road transport, the Ministry of Transport of the Republic announced.

As part of the promotion, special attention will be paid to buses, trucks and specialized vehicles.

The control will affect the following types of transport:

  • transport of dangerous goods;
  • international transport of passengers, luggage and cargo;
  • regular intercity and interregional transportation of passengers and luggage;
  • irregular interurban, interdistrict and intraregional transport.

According to current regulations, the daily driving time of a vehicle must not exceed 9 hours. After driving for 4.5 hours, the driver must take a break of at least 45 minutes.

Failure to comply with these requirements will result in large monetary fines.
