Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said that the country does not have a president. This was his comment on President Salome Zurabishvili’s speech, in which she criticised the ruling Georgian Dream party for changing the course of its foreign policy, calling it a “nightmare”.
“’Nightmare’ is an agent’s term, and it is the agents who use this term to refer to the ‘Georgian Dream’. I would not advise Salome Zurabishvili to speak in exactly the same terms as other agents in the future.” – said Kobakhidze.
Formerly a member of the European Parliament for the Green Party Reinhard Bütikofer He said the “Georgian dream” has turned into a “Georgian nightmare.”
According to Kobakhidze, Zurabishvili is not actually the president of Georgia after having violated the Constitution.
“She is not the president. Salome Zurabishvili is not the president of Georgia. She herself recognized the legitimacy of the Constitutional Court when she filed a complaint with it. And this is the Constitutional Court that concluded that Salome Zurabishvili is an illegitimate president, that she is a president who violated the Constitution. The only reason why Salome Zurabishvili formally retains the post of president is her support for the National Movement. Thanks to the votes of the National Movement she remained in the presidency. Therefore, since then, Salome Zurabishvili is not the President of Georgia, but the President of the “National Movement”, – said Kobakhidze.
