PP barons commit in writing not to negotiate bilaterally their financing with Sánchez

The regional presidents of the PP have committed themselves in a written document not to negotiate its financing bilaterally with the Governmentalthough some are considering meeting individually with the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, even if the Madrilenian Isabel Díaz Ayuso called to stand him up.

This is the main consensus that emerged from the conclave held this Friday by the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and his barons at the Palace of the Dukes of Pastrana in Madrid, which imitated the format of the Conference of Presidents with a institutional image and the flags of all autonomous Spain, including those of the Basque Country and Catalonia, although there are no representatives from these regions.

The PP barons also called for stopping the single financing of Cataloniawhich they call a “separatist quota” and which they denounce, breaks the common fund, harming the rest of the territories. They warned that this goes from “coffee for all” to “crumbs for the majority”, as verbalized by the president of Aragon, Jorge Azcón.

They reject the “trap” of bilaterality

In an appearance without asking questions, the PP leader announced that his presidents have “expressly renounced falling into a deceptive bilaterality.”

In the absence of the PP, which is distributing the signed document, the various regional leaders of twelve autonomous regions and Ceuta and Melilla reiterated in their appearances the promise of not to negotiate bilaterally and the demand that Sánchez convene the Conference of Presidents and the Fiscal and Financial Policy Council.

However, It remains to be seen whether anyone will refuse to meet with the Prime Minister.who announced last Wednesday his intention to summon them one by one, after Genoa gave them carte blanche to act as they saw fit.

The President of the Community of Madrid, who called not to attend this meetingdid not close the door this Friday on his meeting with Sánchez and although he stressed that they will not discuss financing bilaterally, he also stressed that all autonomies have unique problems.

In the case of Madrid, Díaz Ayuso “would like”, as he said, that problems such as insecurity, “the total destruction of the Cercanías” or “the lack of control of immigration” be addressed in Moncloa. According to him, the “common box” should instead be addressed “in a fair forum, with lights and stenographers and with everyone together”.

The President of the Council of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, is willing to meet with the President of the Government but has stressed that he will not participate “in any auction or laundering of transfers to the independence movement” such as the financing agreed with ERC.

Other leaders have followed the same trend, such as the president of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, or the president of Cantabria, María José Sáenz de Buruaga, who want to sit down with Sánchez but not negotiate bilaterally what belongs to everyone.

Pedro Sánchez does not want to open a deep debate on the regional financing model, but rather “turn Spain into a hunger games”, said the president of Extremadura, María Guardiola.
