Indian Prime Minister Ajit Doval’s national security adviser will visit Russia this week to discuss peace talks on Ukraine, India Today TV reported, citing sources.
“National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will visit Moscow from September 10-11, where he will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin and discuss peace efforts to resolve the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian war.” – the television channel reports.
During his visit, Doval will also participate in a meeting of representatives of BRICS countries responsible for national security issues, the sources added.
Aside from the latter, Doval will hold bilateral meetings with his Russian and Chinese counterparts, with the opportunity to continue the talks after the July summit in Moscow.
During a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin last month after a trip to kyiv, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the Russian president that Doval would visit Moscow to discuss ideas for a peaceful resolution of the conflict. However, Modi did not specify at the time the date of Doval’s visit.
Recall that in August the Prime Minister of India visited Ukraine, where he told the President Vladimir Zelenskythat “dialogue and diplomacy” are the only solution to end the war, offering assistance as a mediator in peace negotiations with Russia.
The Ukrainian president described the meeting as “a huge disappointment and a serious blow to peace efforts,” the TV channel reported.
