115 Ukrainians are returning home from Russian captivity; for them, many Russian servicemen, mostly conscripts, captured during the operation in the Kursk region, were returned to Russia.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky via Telegram.
The United Arab Emirates became an intermediary in the exchange.
“Another 115 of our defenders returned home today. These are soldiers of the National Guard, the Armed Forces, the Navy and the State Border Service. We remember each and every one of them. We are searching and doing everything possible to bring them back,” the head of state stressed.
He thanked each Ukrainian unit that replenishes the exchange fund, as this brings the return of Ukrainian soldiers to Ukraine closer.
On the same day, Reuters also wrote about the alleged exchange between Ukraine and Russia. The journalists also mentioned the number of prisoners: 115 people thanks to the mediation of the United Arab Emirates. Moreover, this is the first exchange since the Ukrainian army launched an offensive on Russian territory on August 6.
Following this, Russian propagandists began reporting on the exchange that had already taken place in the 115-for-115 format. They claim that Russia handed over Ukrainian military personnel in exchange for conscripts captured during an operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk region.
The exchange was also confirmed by the Russian Ministry of Defence, which added that Russian prisoners were brought to the territory of Belarus. Recall that after the start of the operation in the Kursk region, Ukrainian soldiers significantly increased the exchange fund, in particular, Russian conscripts surrendered en masse to the defenders.
Earlier, Kursor reported that a Ukrainian soldier with the call sign Lyasha said that the capture of enemy territory brought them joy.
