Baku-born Beglov leads St. Petersburg gubernatorial election

The current governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, a native of Baku, is confidently leading the race for the head of the Russian city.

Alexander Beglov, the current governor of the Russian city of St. Petersburg, received 59.88 percent of the votes in the election of the head of the city, according to the results of the preparation of 70.57 percent of the ballots.

Maksim Yakovlev, nominated by the Liberal Democratic Party, received 19.05%, Pavel Bragin (Greens) 11.1%, Sergey Malinkovich (Russian Communists) 7.75%.

Voting for the elections for the governor of St. Petersburg was held on September 6-8. In addition to the election of the head of the city, the city also held elections for additional deputies for the 18th single-mandate electoral district of the Legislative Assembly and elections for deputies of 110 municipal councils.
