Iran denies IDF attacks on weapons production site in Syria

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani denies reports that the forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were attacked by the IDF on the night of September 9, IRNA reports.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Kanaani said reports of attacks on the Masaif base in Syria are a lie.

“We do not confirm the claim by some Zionist media outlets about an attack on an Iranian-affiliated center in Syria,” says a spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry.

Earlier, Kursor reported that on the evening of September 9, Israel attacked targets in Syria. The media reported that the strikes were carried out on a certain center associated with the IRGC. It later emerged that the IDF carried out strikes on the outskirts of the city of Masyaf and attacked a chemical weapons production center.

In response to the attack, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said that Israel’s overnight strikes on Hama could lead to an escalation of tensions in the region with unpredictable consequences. The department noted that Israel’s actions are a provocation that could destabilize the situation in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the attack on a research center in Syria has now reached 22 people; four of them were killed by the Syrian army, the rest were activists working with Iran. It has not yet been possible to determine whether they are members of the Syrian Hezbollah. Several dozen more people were injured; the exact number is still unknown.
