Judge rejects “for the moment” the request to the Supreme Court to indict Ábalos in the “Koldo case”

National Court Judge Ismael Moreno rejects, “at this stage of the procedure,” the request to the Supreme Court to indict the former minister Jose Luis Abalos in the call Koldo case.

One of the popular accusations, the one brought by the political party Justice Europehad requested it, but Judge Moreno, president of the Central Court of Instruction number 2, has so far refused it. This is reflected in a recent resolution, to which EL ESPAÑOL has had access, in which he considers that Ábalos could be billed later“because of the steps taken and the evolution of teaching.” But not now.

In order to try to indict him, the magistrate would have to present a reasoned statement to the Supreme Court, since the former minister is still qualified to be a deputy. Currently, after being suspended from his membership in the PSOE, the party of which he has become secretary of the Organization, is part of the Mixed Group of the Congress of Deputies. It therefore remains capped.

The anti-corruption prosecutor’s office had opposed the accusation of Ábalos. At least, for now. In fact, the Public Ministry is waiting to receive a report from the Central Operational Unit (UCO) of the Civil Guard on the former minister’s links with the corrupt plot on which the case revolves. Koldo case.

In this legal case, the alleged collection of illegal commissions is being investigated through several contracts awarded by the Ministry of Transport, when Ábalos was in charge, and by other departments, to the company. SL Management Solutions.

They were signed at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. On the Transport side alone, the company received more than 30 million euros for the supply of masks.

Abalos’ successor in power, Oscar Bridgecommissioned a few months ago to carry out an internal audit on these awards. And he revealed that it was the minister at the time, in just 38 minutes, who ordered the purchase of eight million masks from Soluciones de Gestión SL, when the initial idea was to acquire half of them.

For this reason, the report containing the audit’s conclusions indicates that the Ministry of Transport could have adapted the purchase to the offer presented by the company, instead of planning it according to the needs of the Administration.

In fact, as stated in the final audit report, it was Koldo Garciathe councilor of Ábalos who gives his name to this judicial case, who warned that “the supplier [Soluciones de Gestión] offer eight million [de mascarillas] or nothing”.
