Valencian businessmen urge to take advantage of “historic opportunity” to “open the financing melon once and for all”

The president of the Valencian Association of Businessmen (AVE), Vicente Boludacalled for “opening the melon” “once and for all” to the reform of the regional financing system and chose to take advantage of the “historic opportunity” which opens thanks to the Catalan quota to negotiate “one way or another”. “We have been in contact with different governments of different meanings and colors for 15 or 20 years and not a single piece has moved here,” he lamented.

In statements to the media on Monday, moments before holding a lunch debate with the Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Arcadi Spaininsisted on negotiating “once and for all” the reform of the financing model of the autonomous communities, “especially” to the extent that it affects the Valencian Community.

Regarding these negotiations, Boluda downplayed whether they are bilateral or multilateral between CCAA: “Whether they are individual or collective is the least important thing at this moment. The most important thing is that this melon is opened and an agreement is reached in which it is a little more fair -the system- for the Valencian Community than it is today.”

Asked about him Catalan quotaBoluda insisted that the AVE’s aim is to “open the melon” of financing so that the Valencian Community has a new “fairer” system. “If we have to go through the Catalan quota, the Basque quota or the Parisian quota, well, what are we going to do,” he added.

In any case, he insisted that the financing reform “or what needs to be negotiated“and that whether it is bilateral or whether it involves all the Autonomous Communities together is “the least important thing at the moment.”

“What needs to be done is to open the funding melon once and for all, we have been with different governments of different directions and different colours for 15 or 20 years and nothing has changed here, not a single chip was transferred to anyone and what he has to do is move,” he argued. Thus, he advocated taking advantage of the “historic opportunity” to “open” this debate: “Let’s open it now, because whether it is negotiated one way or another is the least important thing. Because, in the end, it will be funding for everyone.
