Pradales pleads for the stability of the Sánchez government and is concerned about the doubts of Junts: “We are not here for elections”

The lehendakari, Imanol Pradalesis in favor of the government of Pedro Sanchez “political stability” and the legislature ends because, as he said: “We are not here for new electoral cycles.” In an interview on Cadena SER, reported by EFE, Lehendakari hoped that “all the partners of the investiture continue to support the Government” because he considers it preferable “that there is political stability throughout the State” rather than there being new general elections.

“What interests me as Lehendakari is that Euskadi works in favour of the stability of the State as a whole and that the State has sufficient stability,” insisted Pradales. Likewise, the Lehendakadi recalled that his party, the PNV, has always “tried to facilitate certain public budgets and budgetary stability in each of the institutions” and, in this sense, he considered that “it is better that the budgets exist (in Spain) than that they do not exist.”

About the single financing agreed between the Spanish and Catalan governments, admitted that he “fears that this debate could be used to unfairly attack” the economic agreement, which is “solidarity” because Euskadi contributes “clearly to the Interterritorial Compensation Fund”, implying a “unilateral risk” and it is also “armored and protected at all levels in the legal field.”

In reference to the words spoken by Pedro Sánchez last Saturday at the PSOE Federal Committee, in which he stated that he would govern with or without the support of the legislative power, Lehendakari stressed that “it is very important that the partners of the investiture continue to maintain your support for the governmentotherwise it could endanger the legislative power.”

Pradales also spoke about the connection of the high-speed train with Navarre, an issue that divides the municipalities of Alava and Gipuzkoa, both led by the PNV, since the first defends that it be carried out by Vitoria and the second by Itxaso. In this matter, Lehendakari subscribed to the opinion expressed this Monday by the president of his party, Andoni Ortuzar, who defended that it is the technical reports of the Ministry of Transport that determine the best option.

Pradales asked the Ministry “do your homework” and present these reports as soon as possible because “Euskadi does not deserve not to be on board the high-speed train.” While waiting for these reports to arrive, he added, “a certain prudence is necessary and one should not publicly pronounce oneself in favour of one option or another due to a lack of information.”
