Trump appoints an outspoken supporter of Israel as US ambassador to the UN

Donald Trump has made his first key appointment: Elise Stefanik, a congresswoman from New York and leader of the House Republican Conference, will become the new US ambassador to the UN.

It was previously assumed that David Friedman, former US ambassador to Israel and close ally of Trump, could take on this position. Elise Stefanik, according to sources, also takes a strongly pro-Israel position, comparable to that of David Friedman.

In Congress, he distinguished himself by raising the issue of anti-Semitism in educational institutions and characterizing calls for an intifada on university campuses as an incitement to the genocide of the Jewish people. Stefanik also directly asked Penn State Chancellor Liz Magill, demanding clarification of the university’s position on the issue.

In May, Stefanik visited Israel, where she inspected kibbutzim in the western Negev that were damaged by fires set by Hamas terrorists. During the visit, he said Israel should receive all the support it needs to eliminate militants and criticized the Biden administration for its indecisiveness on the issue.

Previously, Cursor wrote that the election of Donald Trump as president of the United States marks a new era in American and international politics, especially as it relates to Israel. With broad voter support, Trump has a mandate to make significant changes.

With Republican control of the Senate and House of Representatives, he can aggressively implement foreign policy initiatives, including his Middle East strategy and strengthening ties with Israel.
