The criminal trial of Kanan Balasenli, accused of embezzling money from several residents of the capital under the name of “e-commerce”, has been held.
Oku.AzAccording to the information of the Baku Serious Crimes Court, the testimony of the accused and the victim was heard at the trial presided over by Faig Ganiyev.
During his testimony in court, Kanan Balasanli claimed that he received a total of $60,000 from Elnara Iskanderova, considered the main victim, to jointly organize an e-commerce business. His relationship with Elnara Iskanderova broke down due to the failure of the business they planned and he was unable to return the money he received.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges against him and also clarified other incidents:
“I can say about the other victim, Javid, that I put him in touch with a person, he hired his brother Kamran Musayev and they paid him 11,000 manats. Elchin Ibrahimov was charged with 1,003 manats and we dealt with the cryptocurrency case.”
Victim Elnara Iskenderova stressed in her statement that she met the accused in June 2022 on the social network. The victim, who claimed that her testimony was false, stated that she gave Kanan $100,000 in total:
“I wanted to rent out my studio, I am a taxpayer, I am a transporter. In November 2022, he took $41,000 from me, in total he took my money up to $100,000. I sold my 2 cars, my private bus and my house in Russia and gave them to Kanan.”
It should be noted that Kanan Balasanli was charged under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code (fraud by means of large sums).
