A group of officials of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia is accused of demanding bribes worth eight million drams (about 20 thousand US dollars).
Oku.Az Armenia reports, citing media reports, that the country’s Anti-Corruption Committee has published information on the matter.
According to the preliminary investigation, chief tax inspectors of VA and AK discovered tax violations by nine unregistered workers, as well as by the construction company and other institutions related to it, during the inspection of major repair works carried out at the kindergarten in the Armavir region.
The inspectors met with the director and deputy director of these companies through the joint-stock company SA, suggested not to register unregistered employees and tax violations and demanded a bribe of eight million drams. The director and deputy director of both companies agreed to this.
VA and AK are charged with paragraph 3 of part 3 of article 435 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (accepting large amounts of bribes). SA is charged with complicity in a bribe, and another person with a particularly large amount of bribe.
Three defendants were placed in preventive detention and one was placed under house arrest.
The preliminary investigation was completed and the case materials were submitted to the court along with the indictment.
