The Starship spacecraft will allow humans to explore other planets and save them from extinction on Earth, American entrepreneur and owner of SpaceX Elon Musk announced on September 13.
“The spaceship will make life multiplanetary and save it from extinction on Earth, if bureaucracy does not interfere with this,” – he wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
Starship is being developed by Musk’s SpaceX. The Starship space system is expected to be universal. It can be used for manned flights into low Earth orbit, satellite launches, and flights to more distant celestial bodies.
Earlier, on September 17, Musk said that the first unmanned flights of the Starship spacecraft to Mars were planned within two years. According to him, if these landings are successful, the first manned flights will begin in four years.
In early April, the entrepreneur said that SpaceX could take people to the Moon in five years and to Mars in seven to nine years.
The first Starship launch took place on April 20, 2023, but a few minutes after launch the rocket collapsed. However, in the second launch, on November 18, the first stage of the launch vehicle exploded in mid-air 10 minutes after the start of the flight. Contact with the ship was lost.
