Julián Muñoz, urgently admitted to a hospital in Marbella (Málaga)

The former mayor of Marbella Julián Muñoz is registered since last Sunday at the HC hospital in this city of Malaga, a center where he went urgently and where he is being treated, as confirmed by his wife, Mayte Zaldívar.

Muñoz’s political career, initially affiliated with the PSOE and then integrated into the Independent Liberal Group (GIL), was marked by his controversial management at the head of the Marbella town hall after succeeding Jesus Gil, whose right-hand man he became.

Arrested in July 2006 for the urban corruption plot uncovered in the “Malaysia affair”, he was convicted in several proceedings for corruption offences, embezzlement of public funds and prevarication related to the granting of illegal licenses during the municipal governments of the GIL. His deteriorating health condition prevents him from going to prison, but he has been taken to hospital several times, which raises fears of a fatal outcome.
