PSOE reopens case against Javier Lambán for violation of electoral discipline in the Senate

The general secretary of the PSOE in Aragon, Javier Lambán, has once again been the subject of a disciplinary file opened by the socialist group in the Senate after the Aragonese leader decided not to participate in the vote on a PP initiative that sought to paralyze the economic agreement for Catalonia. The rest of the socialist senators voted against this motion. The “baron” of the regional PSOE already broke electoral discipline in May, on the occasion of the adoption of the amnesty law by the Upper House.

Sources from the socialist group in the Senate confirmed this fact and added that Lambán’s repeat offence would not increase the severity of the possible sanction, a fine of 600 euros.

Javier Lambán, who has been very publicly critical of the tax agreement with the ERC, voted electronically in all the initiatives debated and voted on Tuesday in the Senate. However, in the PP’s initiative to paralyze the Catalan quota, he chose not to vote, even though the rest of the senators voted against.

And the former president of Aragon was one of the territorial leaders of the PSOE who were most critical of the agreement between the PSC and the ERC for Catalonia to leave the common financing regime and start collecting one hundred percent of taxes.

In fact, he was one of the two “barons”, along with Emiliano García-Page, who explicitly criticized the economic agreement for Catalonia within the PSOE Federal Committee a few weeks ago, which even provoked an internal debate with mutual reproaches.

Lambán, who even described the economic agreement for Catalonia as “unconstitutional”, already decided a few months ago to break electoral discipline with the amnesty law, when he was the only socialist to reject this norm during his term in the Senate.
