Podemos Secretary General Ione Belarra warned the government that it would reconsider its support for the spending ceiling if negotiations with Junts included “conservative concessions” on the path to budgetary stability.
This was proclaimed in the halls of Congress, questioned about the existence of contacts with his party on the deficit targets, after the Executive postponed the vote initially scheduled for this Thursday to negotiate the support of Junts and after ERC demanded contacts with the tax authorities.
Belarra stressed that the four Podemos deputies of the Mixed Group note that, so far in their mandate, the Government is planning measures that the PP and the right could “perfectly” implement.
“If the deficit trajectory includes conservative concessions, we can reconsider our vote (which was favourable in the first attempt to cap spending), as is obvious,” he assured.
Use votes to turn “left”
Furthermore, he made it clear that since their votes are “essential,” they will “force” the government to “turn to the left,” since that is their mission in Congress.
