The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) approached Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a proposal for a ceasefire in Lebanon.
This was reported by The Times Of Israel.
According to the source, the Israeli army believes it has achieved key objectives in its operation. In particular, major elements of Hezbollah’s infrastructure along the border were destroyed, the threat of incursions into northern Israel was eliminated, and the terrorist organization’s missile arsenal was significantly reduced.
In this regard, the IDF announced the desirability of ending hostilities at this stage.
The military has also reportedly prepared plans in case diplomatic efforts to broker a truce fail. In this case, the IDF is willing to expand the military operation in Lebanon.
Recall that previously the IDF made an urgent appeal to the residents of Lebanon.
Lebanese media reported a series of airstrikes carried out by the IDF on the outskirts of Beirut and other parts of the country. In particular, southern regions of Lebanon were attacked, including the Al-Aziya region near Sidon and the city of Tyre, where 10 people were reportedly killed and 17 injured.
There are also reports of new attacks on villages in the south, such as Tabnet and Markah, as well as areas in the east of the country, including Tamanin, A-Nabi Shit and Alabak. It is indicated that in the last 24 hours the scale of Israeli airstrikes has increased significantly, while Hezbollah activity in response to these actions has decreased.
