The US State Department asked Zurabishvili to provide data on electoral fraud

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller asked Georgian President Salomé Zurabishvili to provide data on the falsification of the parliamentary elections, of which she accuses the Georgian authorities.

“The president can speak for herself, but I understand she stated that she had information about wrongdoing, so I hope she can provide that information,” Miller said.

Washington considers it necessary to investigate the violations that allegedly took place during the elections. Miller recalled that the United States suspended the assistance program to Tbilisi.

As reported EADailyZurabishvili today, October 30, refused to appear for questioning at the Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office, which summoned the president for her statements about the falsification of the parliamentary elections.

“Test, gentlemen. It turns out that the prosecution is waiting for my evidence. As far as I knew, it should be the other way around, it is the investigating authorities themselves who must obtain evidence.” – said the president of Georgia.

He said that “people are waiting for an immediate investigation by the prosecutor’s office” into voter fraud, not evidence of it.

Georgia’s Central Election Commission previously asked the prosecutor’s office to open an investigation due to widespread accusations of falsification of the parliamentary elections.

The CEC highlights that the OSCE/ODIHR observation mission positively evaluated the elections and gave the highest rating to the work of the electoral administration. Furthermore, an audit by the American auditing company Pro v&v did not reveal any errors.

“To determine whether the statements of the president, politicians or other interested parties about electoral fraud are true, it is necessary to conduct a thorough and objective investigation, which goes beyond the competence of the CEC.” – says the statement.

Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze He stated that if the president does not appear before the prosecutor’s office, this will demonstrate the falsity of her accusations of electoral fraud.
