Next Tuesday, November 26, the Symphony Hall of the National Auditorium of Madrid will be the scene of an extraordinary event: I Solisti Venetione of the most recognized baroque music groups in the world, will celebrate its 65th anniversary with a unique concert. Under the direction of the renowned Giuliano Carella, audiences will enjoy a fascinating musical journey that encompasses masterpieces of the Baroque tradition and lyrical repertoire.

The concert program features a unique combination of lyricism and virtuosity, fusing the musical traditions of Italy and Germany at the height of the Baroque, and adding romantic touches with lyrical interludes from composers such as Puccini and Mascagni . This selection not only highlights the virtuosity of the performers, but also the musical diversity and richness of the evening. The inclusion of iconic works by Vivaldi, Handel, Albinoni and Corelli, as well as fragments of operas, guarantees a complete and emotional experience.

The concert will feature the participation of two renowned artists. The famous contralto Sonia Prina, one of the most acclaimed voices in the baroque repertoire, will delight the audience with her unparalleled mastery. In addition, virtuoso oboist Paolo Grazia, a reference in the world of oboe, will perform key pieces from the Italian repertoire, demonstrating his technique and sensitivity.

This concert (7:30 p.m., tickets from 18 to 98 euros) will be the first event of the fourth season of Hispania Concertalia, which promises an exceptional program for classical music lovers. The two other “Vienna to Madrid” Christmas events will take place on January 4, with the Family New Year’s Concert, and on January 6, with the New Year’s Concert, both with the Philharmonic Ensemble.

Founded in 1959 by the legendary maestro Claudio Scimone, I Solisti Veneti was a pioneer in the performance of Italian Baroque music throughout the world. Throughout its more than 65-year history, the band has performed more than 6,500 concerts in more than 90 countries and made more than 300 studio recordings, many of which are considered benchmarks. It has performed on some of the world’s most important stages and festivals, such as the Salzburg Festival, reaffirming its position as one of the most prestigious chamber orchestras in classical music. With unparalleled virtuosity, I Solisti Veneti remains committed to offering an authentic and passionate interpretation of the baroque repertoire, as well as to exploring Italian classical and romantic music.

Since 2020, the director Giuliano Carella assumed artistic direction of the orchestra, continuing Scimone’s legacy and propelling the group to new heights. Under his direction, I Solisti Veneti continues to amaze audiences with its delicate technical precision and ability to convey the essence of each work, whether on a small chamber stage or in a large hall.

Born in Milan in 1956, Giuliano Carella is an internationally renowned conductor, known for his passionate and meticulous approach to classical music. His musical training began at the “Giuseppe Verdi” Conservatory in Milan, followed by studies at the Chigiana Academy in Siena under the tutelage of the famous Franco Ferrara, where he perfected his art and obtained a diploma of merit in conducting. Throughout his career, Carella has conducted orchestras at some of the world’s most iconic venues, including the Wiener Staatsoper, the Paris Opera, the Gran Teatro del Liceu in Barcelona and the historic Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. His versatility and interpretive abilities have allowed him to leave a significant mark in the interpretation of works by great composers such as Rossini, Donizetti and Verdi.

The Italian contralto Sonia Prina He is one of the most striking figures in the international baroque repertoire, particularly in the works of Handel and Vivaldi. He studied at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan, where in addition to singing he trained on the trumpet. She continued to perfect her vocal technique at the Academia de la Scala in Milan, which allowed her to begin a dazzling career that took her to the most prestigious stages in the world.

The oboist Paolo Grazia He is considered one of the most notable soloists of his generation. Since 2005, Paolo Grazia has been the principal oboe and oboe soloist of I Solisti Veneti, with whom he has played in the most important halls in the world. Throughout his career he has collaborated with prestigious orchestras such as the La Scala Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra of the National Academy of Santa Cecilia and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, he has recorded concerts for major record labels, performing masterpieces of the oboe repertoire, such as Vivaldi concertos and unpublished compositions by Franco Margola.
