Pashinyan said he is ready to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said he is ready to immediately sign an 80% agreed peace treaty with Azerbaijan and continue negotiations on unresolved issues.

“Peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan is not only possible, but also achievable. The president of Azerbaijan and I have stated many times that at least 80 percent of the peace agreement has been agreed.” — said Pashinyan at the 79th session of the UN General Assembly.

According to him, “to take advantage of this historic opportunity and avoid the risk of reaching a deadlock, Armenia proposes to take what has already been agreed in the draft agreement, sign it, conclude a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and then continue negotiations on unresolved issues.”

“We are ready to do it right now,” stressed the Armenian prime minister.

He noted that the signing of a peace treaty with already agreed articles will greatly facilitate the resolution of controversial issues.

“The already agreed parts of the draft peace agreement provide tools for this: one of them is the diplomatic relations that must be established between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the second is a joint Armenian-Azerbaijani commission to monitor the implementation of the peace agreement. “ – said the head of state.

He stressed that the Armenian Constitution does not contain territorial claims against Azerbaijan, “and we can provide detailed written evidence in this regard to all our interested international partners.”

Pashinyan said that Armenia is ready to open transport communications for both Azerbaijan and Turkey, to ensure the safety of the passage of goods, vehicles and people through its territory.

“All statements that Armenia somewhere, in some document, supposedly agreed that third parties should ensure the security of communications on its territory are simply a distortion of reality. “Armenia’s obligation is clear: to ensure the safety of cargo, vehicles and people on its territory, and we guarantee it.” – said Armenian leader Pashinyan.
