The citizen councilor of the City of Ciudad Real, Eva María Masías, criticized the change of location of the future Museum of Hunting and Nature in Ciudad Realwhich would move, as planned, from the building of the former Health Delegation on Postas Street to the former fire station.
Masías, who served as mayor between 2021 and 2023 thanks to a government pact with the PSOE, expresses his incomprehension regarding “the decision of the president of the Provincial Council, Miguel Ángel Valverde, and the mayor of the capital, Francisco Cañizares, to overthrow a perfectly viable project that would involve improving the city center and its network of museums.
“We also don’t know why they want to abandon a project that was entirely feasible in the past, which makes us wonder if this is a purely political decision,” he adds. In addition, the old fire station already had a closed urban project aimed at bringing the University of Castile-La Mancha (UCLM) closer to the city, within the framework of the 2025 Modernization Plan.
Likewise, Masías does not know if there is a report from the technicians of the City Hall or the Provincial Deputation that excludes the initial location due to a certain type of structure, urban planning or any other incompatibility. Finally, let us remember that it was Cañizares himself who, when in opposition, presented a proposal asking the Council to abandon the building of the old Health Delegation.
